My students were able to program and take pictures of our planet using a camera mounted in the window of the International Space Station and yesterday we were able to get this amazing picture of Golden Bay New Zealand. You can see Whanganui Inlet (top), Ruataniwha Inlet and the town of Collingwood (center), and the fantastic looking Farewell Spit. I wish I could visit this place but I fear I’d be tempted to never leave. Thank you NASA for this opportunity to explore our world and good job Ian for taking the time to closely examine the Space Station orbit groundtracks and program the camera to snap this picture as it whizzed by at 17,150mph.
