Feb 7, 2010: Space Shuttle Endeavour (STS-130) launches to the International Space Station to deliver the Tranquility Node and the Cupola module (seen here). The Cupola has 7 windows, and provides a 360 degree view of the world below – (or above, depending on your orientation – remember, there is technically no UP or DOWN in space!) The Cupola is where astronauts take majority of the photos of Earth that we see every day, and is also the place they spend most of their (limited) free time. I know that if I was up there on the International Space Station, orbiting the Earth at 17,500 Miles Per Hour, seeing 16 sunrises/sunsets a day, that I’d be spending as much time as I could in the Cupola, soaking in the view, the beauty, and the perspective. Goodnight! ||
