#spaceexploration – by @kasyj1950 on Instagram

50 years ago, these brave men died during the Apollo 1 test fire. We must remember that there were many challenges to the Race to the Moon. It was a hard battle and unfortunately, these men didn’t get to see Neil Armstrong’s historic first steps on the moon. They died for space exploration; they died to go to the moon. Thank you, Gus Grissom, Roger Chaffee and Ed White, for being heroes as astronauts. Gus Grissom once said, and it’s one of my favorite quotes about space exploration, \ »If we die, we want people to accept it. We’re in a risky business, and we hope that if anything happens to us it will not delay the program. The conquest of space is worth the risk of life.\ »
