The Proton rocket that launched the ExoMars spacecraft to Mars was moved into a vertical position at the launch pad at Baikonur, Kazakhstan on 11 March 2016 ready for the final launch preparations for the booster and spacecraft, including fuelling of the launch vehicle, to proceed. The launch took place on schedule on March 14 to send ExoMars on a 6 month journey to the Red Planet.
