The legendary Mercury Seven being presented to the world in April of 1959. As Al, Gus, John, Scott, Wally, Gordon, and Deke entered that room, an enormous cheer erupted from the large crowd of reporters present as the emcee introduced these seven intrepid men to the world, these seven men that were believed at that time to become the first people to ever go into the mysterious void of space. I can only imagine the wonder of those present that day as they first laid their eyes on these seven that would reach out and touch the stars for all of us for the first time in human history.
